A woman member of the AIITEU Rajasthan unit in Jaipur contacted our legal team on April 27th 2022 to inform us that the BPO she was working for had sent her a mail declaring her “absconded” without paying her dues and had blocked her mail. We have to keep in mind that this is indicative of the abject attempt by the central government to introduce the new labour codes after the COVID-19 lockdown, and the brazen efforts of the proprietors in it via which lesser inspection is provisioned and more power is given to the organisations to hire and fire at will.
The company also did not give any offer letter to the member when she joined the company. Accordingly, we commenced our organizational proceedings on April 28th, 2022. We had sent a warning message to the said company asking them to settle all the dues to her at the earliest and reinstate her at her former position. After a lack of action and response from the company’s side, we sent a follow-up note to the same. This time the extent of our warning and the message of final agitation for non-payment alarmed the company management and as a result of joint pressure of CITU Rajasthan and AIITEU local unit, on July 19, 2022, the company remitted all the dues of the said member to her bank account.
As IT & ITES workers and related employees are being oppressed all over the country, we feel that this success of AIITEU will give them an extra boost to fight for their rights back.
Revolutionary greetings and we solicit support from all news media with the widest coverage.
Thanking you,
Saubhik Bhattacharya,
General Secretary AIITEU (9830090202)
